Christmas Eve Silliness

For those of you who are on the other side of the world and already celebrating Christmas Day - Merry Christmas! And for those of you on this side of the world, Happy Christmas Eve. And for those of you who don’t celebrate Christmas, I hope you’re having a lovely Sunday. It’s also my hope that you’re all spending time with people you love this weekend and telling them how much they mean to you.

Now, because it’s the weekend, I’m going to throw a meme at you. This rather motley collection of questions is coming to you by way of Kristen’s blog.

Do you own a gun? Yes, more at my husband’s insistence than because of any particular desire to (what a way to start a series of questions! yikes!).

What do you think of hot dogs? About once a year or so I kind of crave one, preferably with chili, cheese, onions, and mustard - plain, neon-yellow, French’s mustard, not any fancy, designer mustard. Other than that once a year or so, I think they’re mildly repulsive.
What’s your favorite Christmas song? Oh Holy Night

What do you prefer to drink in the morning? Coffee, black. (I love fancy, sweet, flavored coffees later in the day, but in the morning I want it strong and straight up.)

Can you do push-ups? I haven’t tried in years, but I seriously doubt it.

What’s your favorite piece of jewelry? I don’t know that I have a favorite piece of jewelry. I have a definite preference for rings and earrings over other sorts of jewelry, and a definite preference for colored stones over diamonds. That’s as far as I’ll go in declaring a “favorite.”

What is your secret weapon to lure the opposite sex? I’m not sure any of my weapons are secret. :-) Really, I dunno…I have big boobs and my current hair color tends to attract attention. I’ve been told I have pretty eyes and a nice smile.

Middle name? Ann

Name 3 thoughts at this exact moment:

1. Does anyone really want to read this stuff?
2. I wonder if the turkey is thawed yet.
3. I hope it doesn’t rain tomorrow like they’re saying it will.
Name 3 drinks you regularly drink:

1. water
2. coffee, plain or fancy, hot or iced
3. tea, hot and sweet; or iced which I can take sweet or not

What time did you wake up today? A little before 8 AM.

Current hate? Hm, I really dislike using the word “hate.” But if we want to say my biggest current peeve, I’d say crowds. This time of year always makes me feel a bit claustrophobic in regard to hordes of people crammed onto roads and into stores.

Favorite place to be? Home.

Least favorite place to be? In general - a dentist’s office. Right at this moment - anyplace not home!

Where would you like to go? LOADS of places! But I’ll borrow a variation on Kristen’s answer for this - I’d especially love to go someplace that would put a stamp in my passport.

Do you own slippers? Several pairs.

What shirt are you wearing? A sort of heathery brown sweater (or jumper for those of you across the pond).

Do you burn or tan? Burn. :-(

Favorite color(s)? Almost anything not grayed out and muddy-looking! I’m especially partial to red, blue-violet shades, and various shades of blue and green.

Would you be a pirate? It’d be fun to be a Disney-style pirate, but being a real one sounds rather unpleasant. I don’t think I’d really enjoy pillaging.

What is your favorite holiday? probably Christmas

What songs do you sing in the shower? Whichever one is my current earworm. It changes regularly.

What did you fear was going to get you at night as a child? Zombies and Vampires.

What’s in your pockets right now? Umm….air? Lint? (IOW, nothing)

Last thing that made you laugh? This song (which I also found out about from Kristen!).

Best bed sheets as a child? Ok, are y’all seriously telling me that you remember what your childhood bed sheets looked like? Seriously?? Geeze Louise! I’m doing good to remember I had bedsheets!

Worst injury you’ve ever had? Hhhmmm…you know, I don’t want to jinx myself or anything, but I’ve really been very lucky in that regard. I’ve had some illnesses, but no serious accidents, and very few injuries beyond normal, minor scrapes and bruises. Probably the worst one I’ve had was when I was quite young (2 maybe?) and cut my knee open badly enough to need some stitches.

Are your parents still together? My mother is dead, so that’s not an option.

Do you wish on shooting stars? Sure!

What is your favorite book(s)? Replay by Ken Grimwood

What is your favorite candy? It’d be easier to ask what isn’t. :-/ I don’t like licorice, or marzipan, or marshmallow-y candies (like Peeps). Other than that I like just about all of it.

What song did you have played at your wedding? I was adamant that I didn’t want any singing - only instrumental music. I had a pianist and a flutist play a variety of mostly-classical music.

How is the weather outside right now? Overly warm for this time of year and overcast. Looks like it could rain.

What was your first thought this morning when you woke up? I wondered if it was raining because I’d just been dreaming about being on a boat in a flood.

If any of you want to take on this oddball set of questions, feel free to say so in comments and consider yourself officially tagged.

Childhood sheets? That’s easy - white cotton sheets was all we had back then. (As my children would say “were the dinosaurs alive when you were born?”)

  14. on 24 Dec 2006 at 11:02 pm bella

Happy Holidays Deb. I know I’m a new-er reader, but it’s been great getting to know you.

  15. on 25 Dec 2006 at 9:47 am DebR

Thanks so much to all of you who sent Christmas wishes! I hope the same for all of you.

Glad some of you enjoyed the meme and I hope some of you take it on, silliness and all.

Shirley, no, the white isn’t snow. I’m not sure what it is but my guess would be some sort of fungus or something. (I know…eeeeuuuuwww!) :-)

  16. on 26 Dec 2006 at 10:34 am Deborah

Such a fun list. I confess there have been many viewings of that ridiculous Justin Timberlake video on our computer in the last couple of days.

  17. on 26 Dec 2006 at 2:21 pm Samantha

If you want a cool meme (whatever that damn word means), check out my very first blog post ever. I kept getting that ridiculous one by email (all superficial silly questions) so i re-wrote it to make it more interesting for folks who already know you and for folks who don’t, to get a nice clue.

  18. on 27 Dec 2006 at 9:41 am DebR

Hi Deborah and Samantha. Glad you enjoyed the meme! Samantha, I like the one you posted. I may do all or part of it next month. In fact, I think I may be inspired by part of it for a guest blog post on CaC next month.

  19. on 27 Dec 2006 at 5:52 pm Rissa

I decided to play along. It will take a few minutes for me to post my answers. LOL

  20. […] I got this from Deb over at Red Shoe Ramblings, but she got it from someone else.  I thought the questions were interesting, so I decided to play along.   […]
